Residential Assistant Student Placement – West Bridge House (Stephenville)

Under the supervision of the Residential Manager, the Residential Assistant will provide supplementary supervision to the residents and physical facility; engage in duties that ensure the smooth daily functioning of the program; and observe/participate in those aspects of programming deemed appropriate by his/her level of training and experience.
Responsibilities:
- Assists in the tracking and monitoring residents’ activities in accordance with house rules.
- Reports infractions and critical incidents to the Manager/designate.
- Conducts and documents regular checks on residents and the physical facility.
- Identifies problem areas and reports the same to the Manager/ designate.
- Provides informal support to residents and refers to Residential Manager as required.
- Assist with intake requirement for new residents.
- Attends program related meetings.
- Prepares meals as required.
- Communicates with staff and volunteers through the use of the duty log and shift change briefings.
- Contributes to the maintenance of a clean and safe facility.
- Engages in professional development as required.
- Ensures confidentiality guidelines are met regarding staff and client information.
- Shares responsibility for maintaining a safe, secure environment for both staff and clients.
- Performs other related duties as required by the Residential Manager.
Qualifications:
- Between 19 and 30 years of age at the start of employment.
- Is a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person on whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act.
- Is legally entitled to work according to the relevant provincial/territorial legislation and regulations.
- Certificates in Emergency First Aid and CPR would be an asset.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- Proven competency in computer software.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Certificate of conduct.
- Able to obtain Enhanced reliability check

West Bridge House will be hiring one summer student for an 8 week period June 19-2023 – August 11-2023.
The candidate selected must be available to work days, evenings and/or weekends.

Salary: $14.50/hr. 35 hours per week for 8 weeks
