Employment Services Program Manager

We are seeking to hire a full time Manager for our Employment Services Program-Next Steps.
Under the supervision of the Executive Director, The Employment Services Manager will be responsible for employment services, policy development and overseeing all staffing, administrative and budgetary functions. The Manager will supervise the employment practitioners to help participants make informed choices and decisions that potentially lead to greater stability with regards to employment.
Responsibilities:
Program Oversight and Management
- Develop and implement employment programs tailored to diverse participant needs.
- Monitor program performance and ensure alignment with organizational goals and funding requirements.
- Manage budgets and resources efficiently to support employment initiatives.
Team Leadership and Supervision
- Work with the Executive Director to recruit, train, and supervise staff including employment counselors and support personnel.
- Provide orientation and support to staff
- Conduct performance evaluations and provide ongoing coaching and development.
- Provide support and direction to staff during bi-weekly staff meetings and daily check-ins.
- Manage staff leave and ensure staff are appropriately assigned that necessary shifts are filled according to the collective agreement.
- Identify and ensure that staff receive appropriate staff development and training.
- Foster a collaborative team environment focused on participant success.
Participant and Community Engagement
- Coordinate referrals and assignment of files to employment practitioners
- Oversee participant intake and assessment processes to determine employment readiness.
- Ensure high-quality career counseling and job placement services.
- Build partnerships with employers, training providers, and community organizations.
Data, Reporting, and Compliance
- Complete reports for government funders and community partners as required.
- Track employment outcomes and maintain accurate participant records.
- Prepare reports for funders and stakeholders on program impact and metrics.
- Ensure compliance with labor laws, privacy regulations, and funding guidelines.
Qualifications:
- Degree in Social Sciences or Social Work, a graduate degree would be an asset
- Strong oral and written communication in the English language
- Relevant experience in supervision and management; and a minimum of 5 years’ experience in the career counselling.
- Professional presence and respect for the persons involved in the Criminal Justice System as well as other vulnerable populations.
- Experience managing in a unionized environment would also be an asset.
- Strong presentation and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to multi-task, solve problems, motivate and direct employees.
- Ability to take initiative to improve program and processes.
